How many years in a row do you need to replicate an event for it to be considered a tradition?
I say... 2 years. This methodology allows me to officially claim my real garland mantel as a tradition. As a tradition of the tradition, I will also be purchasing my garland from Horn Seed Company.
I've mentioned Horn Seed before, but never during the holidays. The holidays at Horn are really a completely different experience from any other time of the year. Their nursery spaces burst at the seams with live Christmas trees, garland and poinsettias. The flocking machine and flockmaster (yes, I coined that term) are in full force, churning out trees by the hour in whites, creams and pinks (not joking, pretty cool).

And, any noun that you can imagine is available as an ornament... Pink flamingo? Got it.

Feminine armadillo? yup.

Kayak? Too easy.

A bag of chips or champagne (or both)? Cheers!

Leaning Tower of Pisa? Thanks Amy for finding that one for me.

Horn sells live garland in two types, mixed fir/cedar and Noble fir. I prefer the mixed fir at $4.29/yard because it's a little softer and free form. It looks like this:

The Noble fir garland is available for $3.29/foot.

You can find a wide array of pinecones, poinsettias and live wreaths, some of which are already decorated by the Horn Seed Company staff.

Live trees purchased at Horn can be flocked by the flockmaster in a variety of colors. Every year, Horn goes through hundreds of trees and are sold out weeks before Christmas.

The finished products... so pretty!
